About the Ferry Operator

The truck ferry service across the Strait of Messina is a core component of the transport operations of the Italian state railways. Over the years, this service has been expanded to include passenger transport to meet market demands. In this context, the fleet was adapted through the introduction of additional ship types. On June 1, 2012, Bluferries was established as a company dedicated exclusively to passenger and freight transport, with RFI S.p.A. as its sole shareholder.
